Research interests

I've been interested my family history since the my childhood. My immediate family comes from Hampshire which is where the majority of my known ancestors are from, but I also have ancestors from Berkshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Essex, Jersey and Guernsey.

At the time of writing, my earliest known ancestors are members of the Bull family from the New Forest in the mid 16th century, though I have a tentative line back to the Lovell family of Eling, which, if true, suggests a possible Plantagenet descent.

I have done lots of research on the Barfoot families of Hampshire (though sadly my own line peters out with an Edward Barfoot in Curdridge area, born in the 1620s), and I have compiled what I believe to be a complete tree of all known bearers of the Croutear surname. Other Hampshire families of particular interest are the Vane or Vaine family of Sparsholt, the Banks family of Hythe, the Kemish family of Michelmersh, and the Braxton family of Beaulieu. I due course I hope to put this on-line.
